Netball!!
Mei Ling Young cup Netball match!
After dragging myself out of bed early on saturday morning despite going to bed late the previous night, i rushed to meet Es and the girls for our ride to Family Park.
Our new coach was there and she had forgotten all about me! Serves me right for missing practices *sob*. She made me play WA because she didnt trust me enough to play centre! *sob sob* (I guess i cant blame her. She's never seen me play a game before!) In spite of not having caffeine in my system to keep me from falling asleep on the court, i had to perform well if i was to stand a chance of reclaiming by rightful position. Fingers-crossed.
Barring a few mistakes here and there, the first half of the match went really well. My foot-work was good, throwing not so much but overall it was a good match for me. The score was 5-1 at the end of it. Shaz, Imelda and I were benched for the next half. A transient feeling of disappointment was followed by ecstacy when I found out that it was because she thought we were good and that she wanted to give the others a chance to play. *sigh on relief!* (my competitive genes undergoing excessive transcription and translation! sorry! Neball means too much to me to lose my place on the team)
Winning the Mei Ling Young Cup was 'all in a day's work' for us. Since we barely broke a sweat, we decided to take on the the 2 teams coach had brought to play a practice match with us. (guess i scored 0 for modesty just now.. anyway moving on..)
The the women's team was short of one player for their match against the men's team so coach wanted me to fill in. I had to play WD. It was one of the most interesting games i've ever played, one i will never forget! Playing netball with a gay-guy/transvestite team is not something that happens everyday!;-) Yes, gay guys and transvestites! My WA was the gay-est of the lot! It was so much fun to play! They were such good players. The jumped around like women and had good foot work but were like men with their throws and running speed. They had 'the best of both worlds'. Man, I'll never forget that match. The next match was our team vs the womens team for which i didnt play, followed by the killer match which was our team vs the guys. I didnt play with the women but i played with the men. My stamina was tested to the limit. We had to run almost non-stop too keep up with the 'men'. They were freaking awesome! Guess we should practice with them more often.
While eating awsome nasi lemak with sinfully good beef redang (i hope thats how it is spelt) we cheered for our football team and then claimed our trophy and medals, bid farewell to Family Park and headed home.
*happy!* Neball has that effect on me:-)
