First Week of April

It’s been a while since I last blogged.. A week to be precise.. Just to recap my week..

Monday 3rd April - Blood bank visit in the morning. I was hoping for a good start to the week. The Dr. who briefed us asked us questions like "what are pencil cells and target cells" while showing us countless blood smears... and "how would you clinically diagnose Sickle Cell Anaemia?" I mean differentiate the different types of Anaemias!! Who the hell knew all this after one week of Haemato? Surely we could have learnt all that in one lecture that could be conducted at IMU! We didn’t have to go all the way to the Blood bank for that! Grr... The joke of the day was when the next Dr. came to brief us with her presentation on a floppy disk! *laugh* (I'm not laughing because she was technologically challenged but because it was hilarious watching her look for a floppy disk drive on the laptop! Poor lady had no idea that floppys were obsolete!) After 2 hours of boring briefings, we went on a tour (the actual purpose of the visit!) where all we learnt was how expensive Factor 8 and Factor 9 concentrates were! What a waste of the day!!! *in a punching mood*
We had a Netball meeting at 12.30. (More minutes for me to write!) I quite like the new committee we elected to organize the Intra-Batch Netball tournament. Hope they'd do a good job.
Lectures today were quite interesting. I love Dr. Ammu's lecs!
Went to Carrefour with Meenu, Prish and Hiru in the evening. Had a pizza-eating competition with Prish at Dominoes. I’m ashamed to admit that she won:-)

Tuesday 4th April - I was prepared for an overdose of Dr.Radha today. 2 hours of her lecs and 1 1/2 hours of PBL!! Strangely enough I did pay attention. I liked her lectures and PBL was not too bad either. The funny part was when Dr. Radha said "..... is one of Dr.Thani's favourite questions. Make sure you know it" and Dr. Thani happened to walk out of the adjacent PBL room at that instant. We broke into fits of giggles! Thank god Dr.Thani didn’t turn back to see what the commotion was about.

Wednesday 5th April - Everyone who was planning on running for SRC made an announcement to the whole batch about it. Shockingly, we had 4 people announcing that they intended to run for VP. KK was pissed! And understandably so. It seemed as if everyone who had President in mind changed to VP to avoid competition with Mahes. Poor KK.. I feel sorry for her.

I went for netball practices (thankfully Muhun gave Prish and I a ride to Family Park!). It was fun playing Netball with the guys! They were good! (I'd like to take credit for that because i was there coach for the day!:-) Should encourage them to come for practices more often.

I'm proud of the sem1 lot. They are quite a cool bunch!

Thursday 6th April - NO-DRESS CODE DAY!! I was tempted to go into CSU in Jeans and sneakers but i refrained from doing so for fear of Dr.Htin Aung. I didn’t want to get a 30min lecture on professionalism from him. CSU was interesting! My interviewing skills were crap, though. Guess I’ll need more practice if I’m to pass my OSCE! Can’t seem to get over the fact that the SPs are just actors *sigh* I went back home and changed into casuals for lectures. Felt great to go to Uni in sneakers. Got about an hour's work done in the library. (They should have this no-dress code thing more often; incentive for me to go to the library) Went for the Indian Dance and Culture club AGM. Thinking of joining some Indian dances. I think it'll be great to learn some cultural dances from proper instructors.

Galy's lecture was a joke. He was so preoccupied with his flight to China that he rushed through his lecture really fast.

I played Truth or Dare with the juniors in the Student Lounge with KK, Sid and the juniors. God! People can be silly! Anyhow, it was fun. I kept Mahes and Kah Yee company at the entrance. It was so good to hear that we raised RM2000 out of the no-dress code stint.

Bunked Futsal again!:-) This time because it interfered with our dinner plans.

Went to 1 U with Mahes, Nisha and Pravin to watch “The Producers”. The movie was rather hilarious though musicals aren't really my kind of movies. We went for dinner to Bangsar afterwards. With Pravin yapping away, the evening was quite fun. It was nice to see the Gopher again and to teasing him about diet coke.

Friday 7th April - Holiday!! Went out to the Lankan restaurant for Dinner with a crowd of 17! Looking for taxis was a nightmare. Calling the cab dudes didn’t work because they kept saying that they couldn’t send 5 taxis! *curse malaysian taxis* Never again am I going to go out with such a big crowd. The food was good! No complaints!:-)

Saturday 8th April - Laundry day! I was supposed to go to visit Shehan at Nottingham Uni but I was too lazy to go. Plus it was raining in the afternoon so i decided that it had to be postponed.

I got a text from Ushank in the evening asking me whether I was free to explain the Thorax to them. Half an hour later, the doorbell rang and when I opened the door I was greeted to a unanimous "good evening, teacher!" I was taken aback by the crowd; almost the entire Sem 1 International gang; All the Lankans with Sumaira, Aditya and Kiren. We spent about an hour on Nilesh's lecture. I had to explain everything to them! They hadn't even bothered to read the lecture note. The lazy brats!! Before I was done, 2 of them fell asleep, one gave up, one listened intermittently and made me re-explain what i tried to explain for the 15mins prior to that and 2 of them tried to get me to explain Joints as well which was beyond the scope of the lecture we were supposed to be discussing. I didn’t know lecturing the internationals would be in my job description when I was nominated for President for ISS! LOL!

After feasting on a pizza dinner from Pizza Hut and Dominoes, we decided to call it a night. While the others went out for a midnight movie, I sat at home and decided to get some work done. It didn't work. I had to succumb to the over-powering urge to sleep.

Sunday 9th April – Just another crazy Sunday. It was eat-as-much-as-u-can day for Prish and me. Ice cream, Omelettes, Chapatti, Twisties (the ones that are supposed to colour your tongue; made us hop around like 6 yr olds!) , Mango juice, Nasi Pataya (from faithful Happy Cook!) and biscuits! Gosh what a combination of foods for one day!

So much for the studying! With our recently diminished attention span, it’ll be sheer luck if we get through to Sem4!

Hmmm… Pretty much a typical week in the life of Imeshi

Btw, Prish, Mufee, Hiru and Sharuna, I love you guys! :-) Just wanted to add that. You guys make life so much more interesting!! Glad to have you guys as housemates!
