A venture away from civilization – Kuala Kubu Baru

I woke up on Wednesday (8th Feb) morning feeling excited about the KKB trip. Then i remembered that i had to get the Orientation T-shirts settled with Ayman. Damn! I grudgingly got ready and went to IMU and sorted out endless questionnaires and then went all the way to Kelana Jaya to hand over the designs to Jody. (Jody's dogs were damn cute!)
I was back just in time for last minute packing to go off to KKB. We were the last to get on the bus (not surprisingly). The ride to KKB was quite uneventful, such a contrast to trips we had back in school. The trip added a few more evil treasure hunt ideas into Trish's already evil head. Man, i do pitty those juniors who'll be ragged by Trish. Trish is a prefect example of "don't judge a book by its cover"; no one would suspect that this pretty little girl is capable of such monstrosities.
My first impression of KKB - "Oh my god! Where the hell are we?". Upon further scrutiny, my initial impression gave way to an actual liking for the place. It was a quite little town which in a strange sort of way it reminded me of Sri Lanka. It was actually a relief to be away from the hustle and bustle of KL.
Our first night in KKB was fun. Walking to the mamak was scary and exhilarating at the same time, a girl's night out! Shankari, Trish, Prish, Mufeedha, Karen, Catherine, Li Lian, Cynthia, Rei Ka, Jen Ven and Shun Hund; the inhabitants of the Nurses' Hostel.
Sleeping on the creaky beds i must say was a tad bit annoying and waking up with a neck pain didnt thrill me either. Waking up at 7.30 in the morining after such a long time felt strange. We had yell to get Shankari and Trish out of the shower
KKB Hospital Day 1 - We actually made it to the briefing room 10mins before we were supposed to be there. That was a shocker! Jo Bo, Andrew, Li Lian, Eric and i got a Diabetic case for history taking. Andrew and I (using our appalling knowledge of Malay as an excuse), let Jo Bo and Eric do the history taking. It was the first time i took BP on a real patient, quite a milestone i think:-) We were chiiling out first at the cafeteria then at the briefing room and i missed a call about a delivery. Crap! It was a long day. The two hour teaching session just exhausted us. After a nice long shower in the not-so-convenient bathroom, we went out for dinner at 98. The food was awesome!! Lived in KL for so long and i didnt get proper chinese food till i went to this unknown town of KKB. The Thai style chicken was to die for! Prish and i ate more than the rest of them put together. That was one great meal! Prish and Mufee didnt let the rest of us sleep; they kept nagging "Imeshi dont sleep!.. hehe:-)
KKB Hospital Day 2 - Another early start to the day! Another Diabetic patient! Boring history. Luckily for we didnt have to present the case to Dr.Sasi. We were looking forward to going back to Vista. Waiting for the guys to pack was annoying. They were worse than girls! They kept us waiting in Jo Bo's car for almost half an hour! God we were never that happy to see Vista! Felt like going home after ages!
After an eventful weekend, Shankari picked us up on Sunday evening to go back to KKB. We had a great time on the way there. Getting lost was kinda fun too! We were back in the Nurse's hostel by 8pm.
KKB Hospital Day 3 -
to be continued.....
