Strained friendships
Birthdays are supposed to be happy occassions.. When you take a birthday girl out to treat her to dinner you wouldnt normally discuss sensitive issues that may cause her any distress. Well, obviously this is not a universally accepted concept. Not only do some people bring up the subject that she wouldnt want to discuss, they actually go to the extent of voicing out their opinion, being insensitive to the fact that every word they say may be like a dagger piercing through the poor girl's heart. And they claim to understand what she's going through; they promise her that they'll always be there for her if she'd need them. With friends like these, who needs enemies! And when these friends discuss her situation with their girlfriends and their girlfriends are extremely insensitive and even outright rude (while claiming that they are saying this with her best interests at heart), any bystander would feel like saying "get out of this house u morons!!"(yes, this was said in the b'day girl's own home) This is exactly how i felt. There's nothing worse than seeing a friend being miserable on her b'day. And when the cause of her misery is another friend, the situation gets a little frustrating. And when our surprise plans are ruined by this other busybody friend, it gets infuriating to the point where you feel like kicking them out!!
I am not mentioning names here. Having a common circle of friends can be really annoying at times.
I just hope the ex-b'day girl will recover fast.
